Underground Multimedia Exhibition

The Underground Multimedia Exhibition is a modern element of the tourist route at the Bochnia Salt Mine, which presents the history of the mine and the development of salt mining in an engaging way. The tour takes visitors through different eras – from the Middle Ages to the present day – using sound, light, and animation effects.

In the historic chambers, multimedia reenactments are placed featuring historical figures such as Polish kings, Cistercians, and Genoese merchants. The narration combines historical facts with a modern form of presentation, making the tour not only educational but also engaging.

The extended version of the tourist route combines three key elements of the visit: the Underground Multimedia Exhibition, a boat crossing through the brine-flooded tunnel, and walking along the Horse Path – one of the oldest communication routes in the mine. The Horse Path is a historic corridor once used by horses transporting salt. Walking this section provides a deeper understanding of the hard work and the unique nature of the old miners' tasks, as well as the role of animals in the functioning of the mine.
