Underground Multimedia Exhibition
The Underground Multimedia Exhibition is a permanent feature of the Bochnia Salt Mine tour. The presentation was created using modern audiovisual techniques and showcases the history of the mine, from its founding in the Middle Ages to the present day.
Visitors move through historic chambers where multimedia reenactments and projections are set up, featuring historical figures such as Polish kings, Genoese mine administrators, and Cistercians who cared for the mine in its early years. With realistic sound and light effects, the exhibition offers a deeper understanding of the miners’ work and the development of the Bochnia saltworks.
The exhibition is available as part of four different tour options, tailored to the age and abilities of the participants.

An extended version of the basic tourist route, enhanced with a unique attraction – a boat ride through a brine-flooded tunnel. This unusual experience allows participants to feel the atmosphere of the underground workings while learning about the process of salt leaching and the mining engineering of the past. The route begins with a visit to the historic chambers featuring the Underground Multimedia Exhibition, which presents the history of the mine and the development of salt mining in an accessible way. Participants then embark on a boat ride over 200 meters underground – a highlight of the tour that is especially memorable.

Before the visit, it is important to inform tour participants about a few key points. The mine has a constant temperature of 15–17°C, so it is recommended to dress in layers for thermal comfort and wear sturdy, comfortable sports shoes to facilitate movement along the route. To ensure ease of touring and comfort for participants, unnecessary items like large bags or shopping bags should be left behind, as they can hinder movement. Smoking, including e-cigarettes, is strictly prohibited in the mine. It is also advisable to familiarize yourself with the tour regulations before arrival and confirm the exact meeting time to avoid delays. Additionally, participants should be reminded that there is no mobile phone reception in the mine, but Wi-Fi is available in the Ważyn Chamber for staying in touch with loved ones.
