The project “Introduction of a Unique Cultural and Educational Offer along the Tourist Route at the Bochnia Salt Mine – a UNESCO World Heritage Site” is a response to the need for sustainable development of cultural heritage and the necessity to adapt the conditions for managing tourist traffic in the face of ever-growing visitor numbers, while simultaneously ensuring the protection of the monument and preserving it for future generations.

The launch of the new route will contribute to enhancing the safety of visitors to the mine and improving the quality and comfort of the tour, by relieving the main tourist route. Expanding the protection of the UNESCO World Cultural Heritage, including the need to improve the safety of visitors while on the premises of the mine, is the primary determinant for the project’s implementation.

The safeguarding of historical mining excavations and the increased number of visitors will be an added value resulting from the realization of the main goal of the project. Implementing this project will contribute to achieving one of the specific objectives of the Operational Programme for Infrastructure and Environment (POIiŚ): increasing access to cultural infrastructure and heritage, as well as enhancing the cultural competencies of society.
